Greater Oneida Chamber of Commerce stresses role of not-profits in community

ONEIDA — The vital relationship between area businesses and not-profits was promoted and showcased at the Greater Oneida Chamber of Commerce’s membership luncheon at the Kallet Wednesday….

Debbie Cassidy, employee assistant coordinator for BRiDGES, spoke on the 16-year-old organization that was formed because people were concerned about drug and alcohol use.

The organization has since carried on a mission of improving the quality of life through advocacy and service to the community.

BRiDGES provides information, referrals and assessments for a variety of services relating to drug and alcohol use. They also support a employee assistance program that goes beyond drugs and alcohol to help employers and managers deal with employees with relating issues.

A smoking cessation program is offered along with support for different organizations to promote a smoke-free environment through workplace policies….
