Tobacco program vital

Last month, advocates from the American Heart Association traveled to Albany to let our representatives know what they can do to help in the fight against heart disease, the No. 1 killer of New Yorkers. Despite the tremendous progress that has been made in New York to curb smoking, there is still a tremendous amount of work to be done. Youth will continue to start smoking because of exposure to smoking in movies and tobacco advertisements in the retail environment unless stronger tobacco control policies are adopted to help protect them from a lifetime of addiction and early death.
