Less tobacco control from Albany |

Some state budget cuts are less volatile than others. Take the $5 million decrease in the state Tobacco Control Program that has been proposed for the 2010-11 budget.

Advocates for schools and hospitals are up in arms over decreases in the governor’s budget plan. Monday, state workers protested in Albany as the Legislature prepared to vote on weekly furlough days to keep the state solvent. But no swarm of lobbyists is mounting the barricades on behalf of tobacco control.
